((Caroline))
She certainly was pretty…competent.  Pretty competent Caroline finished that thought quickly, tripping over the words.   She judged new teachers by the time it took for them to call her in to reign their classes.  But here it was and so far, nothing.
Caroline popped in her head to see how the new teacher had survived the first day of school.  With a smile that reached her brown eyes, Kate had invited the headmistress in and before Caroline knew it, she was helping her put away the dictionaries and straighten the desks.  ”Messy, aren’t they?” Kate asked, brushing past Caroline.

Kate:
“Sorry to say they don’t get better with age.” Caroline chuckled, picking up a pen.
“Have you been a teacher as well?”
“Years ago.  Another life, practically.”
“Well,” Kate grabbed her cardigan off the back of her chair and headed towards the door, “Tell me about it on our way out.”
“Perhaps another time - I just -“
“Came to check up on me.” Kate laughed.
“I’m sorry. Am I that transparent?”
“A little but I find it endearing.”
“Usually by this time in the day, most new teachers have called for reinforcements.”
“I’m not ‘most’ teachers.”
“No, you most certainly aren’t.”
