two years of livejournal, and now this

until harryd3 died of unnatural causes, i had been operating my livejournal quietly and independently for almost two years. sometimes it was theraputic and other times i was just writing it to be funny. but perhaps my greatest accomplishment with my livejournal is that i was able to seperate my private life from my public life. in other words, none of my friends had or knew about livejournal, so i had free license to write as i wished.

now i stand on the cusp of my next great adventure: higher education. which brings me to my next point: the united states educational system has been training us as mindless, docile sheep, ready to submit to their every demand. there is a six step process (that you can read about in harper's; i'm not here to draw a fucking diagram for you cattle) that the us adopted from old prussia to maintain a standard for its masses. in other words, mediocrity, conformity, and a sense of triviality. these goals are aimed to make us better citizens, as we will bend to our government's wishes, be they good or ill. furthermore, we will become suspectible to marketing. now you know why you ate that mcgriddle sandwich as you watched american idol, even though your heart and brain screamed, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP!"

and behold, my epiphany. for many years i had wondered why i, like no one else i knew, could handle solitude and reflection and not cling to others for amusement and companionship. last night it dawned on me that our whole SYSTEM has been molding us as clingy, immature man-children. so today, i look upon myself as a sort of throwback, a new sort of thomas jefferson, or abraham lincoln: educated, questioning, happy, and full of a quiet peace, knowing that i am an individual.

challenge. be independent. learn. be yourself. enjoy yourself. there is no other way.
