this feeling is eternal for as long as it lasts

Way overdue update here. Greg's house has been on the market since April with some lookers but no takers. We naively thought we'd be in our own place by now but the economy has made sure that didn't happen. I honestly don't know what more he could do to make it more saleable (is that a word?). There is a woman who is interested but she's waiting for an offer to go through on her house which is contingent on an offer on another house and so on like dominos. Now that our wonderful Nebraska winter is very nearly upon us, I'm doubting that it will happen anytime soon but when it does, the taste will be just that much sweeter. I read Drew Brees memoirs recently and have to admit to feeling some inspiration.

In the meantime, my place isn't that bad most of the time. It's clean, quiet (usually), and I have a garage. Going on four years, I've finally gotten used to living by myself though it'll be better when we have one home base to operate out of instead of two. We've both come a long ways these past years individually and together - we are so ready for a big change. Let 2011 be the year! By the way, for anyone who doesn't know, we got engaged back in June. Once the whole house thing happens, a wedding might not be far off. He's a good man, Charlie Brown.

In other news, last Wednesday night I got back from a trip to Monterey, California, attending an Internet Librarian conference. I was really only there for 2 days and mostly in educational sessions about mobile technology, eBooks, cloud computing and the like but snuck off every chance I got for some solo sightseeing. It was wonderful, like an all expense paid vacation from reality. My room was easily the nicest I've ever stayed in. And watching the harbor seals was the biggest non-alcoholic buzz I've had in a long time.
