reading is fun (and other stuff)

I've already blown through eight books so far this year, several of which were on the last list I posted. A couple of those also turned out to be stink-a-roos and went back to the library drop box unread and a couple are loaners (as opposed to loners) from a friend just collecting dust until I get to them. Here's my current list of wanna-reads:

  • No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach ~ Anthony Bourdain
  • Slightly Married ~ Wendy Markham
  • Green Glass Sea ~ Ellen Klages
  • Slam ~ Nick Hornby
  • We Thought You Would be Prettier: True Tales of the Dorkiest Girl Alive ~ Laurie Notaro
  • Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Skank ~ Celia Rivenbark
  • Not Tonight Honey, Wait Until I'm a Size 6 ~ Susan Reinhardt
  • Bright Lights, Big Ass ~ Jen Lancaster
  • The Wordy Shipmates ~ Sarah Vowell

Had the annual SimplyWell blood screening this morning and am anxiously awaiting the results. I know I've gained 9 lbs since last year at this time and 26 lbs in the last two years though there are many reasons, besides my love of food, for that. Just hoping that my cholesterol and TSH numbers are within the normal range.

I finally made a will today using one of those online services I investigated a year ago in April but just never got around to doing. Since I don't have property or children, I wanted something short, simple, and legally binding. Oh, and cheap. Greg's lawyer brother did his at the "family rate" of $300 - no thanks! In short, in the event that anything should happen to me, everything would go to my mom primarily and then my sisters equally. That should do me until such time that a more permanent commitment is made and/or I own property. No plans to kick soon, though, so no worries.

Greg has been a crabby, moody stress bucket lately due to work and if that's all he says it is, I have to take him at face value. We see each other every day but just going to the gym and watching tv never seems like quality time. Hoping to change that but it takes two to tango.
