something in the night

The doctor I saw yesterday is the wife of the instructor I had for my Academic Libraries class last spring which is of no interest to anyone but me. Small world and all that. I was recalling a bit of dialogue we had during my consultation:

Have you ever been pregnant? No.
Is that intentional? Yes.
Any sexual problems? No. Unless you count a lack of.

Ah, it’s a good thing I have a sense of humor. Or at least think I do. Sometimes.

The internet at work was down all day until about 10 minutes before I had to leave. You don’t realize how dependant we are on it until you don’t have access to it, especially in the library world these days. Apparently I must be a jinx because shortly after arriving at the university, their systems starting having problems, too, and continued on and off throughout the afternoon. Ella Jane finally said that we’d pretend it was 5:00 and I got to leave early. I must have made an overall good impression though because before I left she offered to be a recommendation should I ever need one and people don’t usually offer that lightly. At least I don’t. Or maybe the cookies were just that good.

The doctor also asked if there was a certain time of day I feel worse than others and as James can attest to, that time for me is right around 3pm. She said that there’s an asthmatic biorhythm at which various times peoples’ airways constrict more and for most people it seems to be at 5pm. Interesting that. Even more so when I had a coughing fit at UNO and looked at the clock to see that it was 2:50pm. If I had my way, I’d stay up all night and sleep mornings. It's when I feel most creative and alive. I need to find me a 24 hour library somewhere.

I’ve lived 12,381 days.
