The Last Nine Films: November 19, 2010

Damn it! I don't think I have ever had such a tough choice in ranking films! First, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" was a lock-in for "Top Three" until I watched "The Social Network". TSN would have been higher up on the list if it wasn't so damn misogynic. And then I had such a tough time deciding between "A Few Good Men" and "Fight Club"! Both such great ( Read more... )

Great post!

I want to see The Social Network so bad.. :D
I always considered Brad Pitt to be an underrated actor. Fans and critics just take him by his looks but Fight Club is one of his many performances that shows he can really act.
We'll have to agree to disagree about The Dark Knight. I love that movie!!
hehe Rocky Horror Picture Show! For me, it's tolerable until the dinner scene..After that, the entire ending makes me feel like I've just smoked weed and is extremely high. XD

I haven't seen Cat on a Hot Tin Roof yet, but I had to read the play for theatre class, and it's amazing. XD

Thanks! =).

Yeah... "The Social Network" is great! I hope you get to watch it soon!

I agree about Brad Pitt. I obviously love him (and he's one of my favorite actors). But a lot of people see him as just a "boy toy", as opposed to an actual talent. There are too many interviews where the interviewer is this woman falling all over herself "Do you know how many girls are jealous of me right now? hehehhe". It's so lame.

haha... okay, agree to disagree. ;)

Yeah... the ending of RHPS really, REALLY drags. =O.

I haven't read the play, but if it's anything like the film... then I'm sure it's great! That AND Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman! <3.

Well, David Fincher directed Fight Club and The Social Network. So you know who he is after this batch of movies for sure! He also directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. And he's currently directing the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Oh, and I too hated The Dark Knight. Always glad to find another person who isn't crazy about that movie.

SNAP! "Fight Club", "Social Network" AND "Benjamin Button"?! I loved all those movies! Now he's definitely on my "director's to watch" list. =). It's amazing when people tell you things that connect the film world for you. Haha. THANK YOU!

Yeay for our shared hate for "The Dark Knight". I guess you need to be in-love with the superhero genre to appreciate it.

Fight Club - Pretty amazing! Edward Norton and Brad Pitt are stellar actors.

Memento - I really enjoyed Memento. One of my favorite things is the way the story unfolds. I can see what you about the ending not being a big reveal, but at the same time that is part of what made it so trippy.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show - I haven't watched this in it's entirety since High School but I was never a raging fan.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof - I read this play in high school. I really need to see the movie.

The Dark Knight - Have you seen Batman Begins? I wasn't all that thrilled with it. At least 'The Dark Knight' had Heath to spice it up.

The Social Network - I want to see this!

ICA about Edward Norton and Brad Pitt!

This guy at the movie store said that it showed that guys with his condition cannot live in this world if they invent stories in their minds. That made me appreciate it just a BIT more. Still didn’t like it, though. Haha.
I think the editing gimic (and the story running backwards) was clever during the first few minutes, but after that it just didn’t do it for me anymore. I felt like they needed something more than just “a story unfolding backwards” to make it interesting. And I feel like it felt in that part.

I’m not either. I watched “Rocky” for the Glee episode, TBH. Haha.

Funny how everyone seems to have read the play. The film is fantastic!

I’m not a big fan of the superhero films. So no… I haven’t seen “Batman Begins”. Though I’m curious to see Tim Burton’s “Batman” (with Jack Nicholson)… just because I love Burton and I love Nicholson!

WATCH IT! ASAP!
