Inquiring Minds Want to Know

We rarely see the SGA team get captured by anyone except the Wraith whereas SG-1 seemed to get captured every week. :) I read a discussion once about what would have happened to Sam if she'd been captured in "reality."

Sheppard's team gets captured quite often in fanfic.

What do you think would "really" happen to Teyla?

I'm especially interested in opinions on captivity to punish Sheppard, Ronon, etc or to interrogate for intel.

For readers - do you find Teyla treated reasonably in these kinds of fics? The comment about Sam I read stated that she would have been raped numerous times in "reality." I know Teyla is a strong warrior, but she is a woman and not even the toughest can hold several men off especially if she's chained up, etc. Is that something you even think about when you read a story?

For writers - how do you handle this? How do you reconcile a society/captor who would torture our team but not use rape as a tactic? Do you choose to not address the issue? Is it a consideration when you write?

I have no interest in writing (or reading to be honest) a rape story, but sometimes I feel it's the elephant in the middle of the room that no one's talking about it.

What do you think?

sga, today's question
