Stopped off at the local garage store on the way in to work this morning to make use of their post office facilities, and while I was there some so-and-so clobbered my wing mirror - and then just drove off! Fortunately, there's a repair shop next door so I just popped round and they very kindly fixed it for me for free - I'd have done it myself, ( Read more... )

Yes, I finally got one. Same make and model as the previous one - Vauxhall Astra - 'cos I really liked the old one, and it made hunting for a newer one that much easier since I knew what to expect. Sort of. The old one was blue - 20 years old (D-reg) with just shy of 150K on the clock, and I'd had it for 8 whole years! *sniff ( Read more... )

My clutch has suddenly developed a squeak, which seems to have started with the extra cold snap we're having at the moment. I don't know whether I should be worried about it - the car is rather ancient and has a whole manner of age-related complaints, but it's still running ok (touch wood) - but it sounds as though I've got a gerbil in my footwell ( Read more... )

I need the car over the w/e, so it's booked in for next Wednesday and hopefully I can manage to keep it going until then... It's not the water - I can manage to keep that topped up. Yup - it's gonna be a bit more expensive this time, and I'm gonna be carless for a few days, but not just yet.... they're not going to do the work until next week 'cos they're booked up and I need the car over the w/e, so it's booked in for next Wednesday and hopefully I can manage to keep it going until then...
