Today couldn't have been a more perfect summer day. I need to live somewhere where this is possible for more than three months a year.
I woke up wicked early and went to Revere (Reveah) Beach to walk for an hour in the surf, before the masses of sticky-with-ice-cream children and overweight men baring too much skin descended upon the sand. Got back to the city and went back out, for a long walk through the Back Bay, on a photo-hunt for cows (

I ended up in the garden at the Pru and decided to call it quits and sit on the big stone steps for awhile, taking in the sun and keeping as far away from tourists as possible. Went back home for late lunch and just when I felt myself starting to nod off, got up again and walked to the Christian Science Center. It was packed; there had to be a hundred kids in the fountain. I went around to the far side of the church and read in the shade, considering it had stopped being nice to sit in the sun, and just miserable. Around 6:00, for whatever reason, there was a half hour bell-ringing and suddenly the breeze became cool and picked up and it was such a nice end to the day. And now I'm home, watching a History Channel special about the Battle of Bunker Hill (anniversary of which was yesterday). Nid would be proud.
