Diary: Week of 11/06: Career, Gardens, and Dungeon
This week saw me read through all 466 strips of
Order of the Stick, and a very good webcomic it is too. It may even be better than
Eight-bit Theatre, which I shall probably spend next week catching up on. :o)
But I'm still not entirely a geek, because I didn't spend the entire week fiddling around on my website and reading webcomics, I did actually leave the house occasionally, although often on little sleep because of having been awake all night on the Internet.
I did decide to stay awake during the morning to go to the university Careers fair, which was rather pointless mostly. Lots of stalls with companies with fairly ambiguous job roles on offer, many of which weren't open to humanities students anyway... fortunately some bright soul had created a big collection of large books with job listings for graduates in which is much more helpful.
Now if my interest in the Civil Service falls through I can look through these books at my leisure in the section for jobs for graduates of any department :oD Still hoping on getting into the graduate training scheme for the civil service if I can help it though :o)
I also bought myself a new suit, or rather a blazer and a variety of shirts and ties (still looking for more ties...), little bit annoyed to find the trousers I bought were mislabelled and thus to large for me :o/
Went to the pub and later Pizza hut during the week with my brother and his fiancée same day, but was pretty tired due to complete lack of sleep :o)
Met up with university friends down at the university to go drinking in the 'Secret Garden' as well, which was fun, mostly because it's nice to have an nice large garden area where no one is about so as to drink in piece. Went down to The Crown after that to get some food and meet up with
Daven, and then home, which may be just as well given one particular university student was getting just a tad too drunk for my personal tastes :o)
Saturday I was down Dungeon for
Ophelia_Machina's birthday on Saturday, which went well, although I think I might have left her a bit miffed with certain elements of 'relationship advice' at the end of the night (opps) :o/ Still, good time was had :o)
Plans: This week and Slimelight
Am planning to be down Slimelight this weekend, although only for the three-floor and likely not for Clan of Xymox (haven't bothered to buy a ticket and I've never been that big on gigs anyway...).
Starting to run low on cash in my current account, I have another grand and a half in my savings account but I'm planning on leaving that untouched in case I need it for relocating because of getting a job et cetera :o)
Meaning I'm a bit low on cash... if anyone wants to do something cheap for fun then let me know!
Meme: European Heaven and Hell joke
Heaven vs. hell. What is the difference? Well, both are run by Europeans. The difference is what they are doing in each place. In heaven, when you arrive you are greeted by the cordial British and receive a royal welcome. You are escorted to your table for dinner and are fed fabulous food prepared by the French. Whilst dining on the best food you've ever tasted, the Italians are providing the entertainment on stage and the Germans are organizing everything, making sure the whole event runs smoothly.
On the other hand, in hell, when one arrives, one is greeted by the French and taken to the banquet hall in which British food is served. During the course of the meal and trying to keep your arteries from clogging up from the fish, chips, and clotted cream on scones, the Italians are trying desperately to organize the whole fiasco and the Germans are failing miserably at the entertainment.
