Well, not so bad I suppose.
By all appearances, I'm getting better at this university lark. From each semester my mark has improved, starting at 64.5, moving up to 66.25, and now up to 69. It's just kinda funny that as I'm approaching arriving at a consistently 1st level of work, I'm just about to finish anyway.... :o/
On the plus side, the chance of me getting anything less than a 2.1 are slim.
I'm not sure how they years are weighted though, but it's either that the second year is only worth 0.4 of the grade, or point 0.3 of the grade, which leaves me with one of the following two options:
Assuming it is 0.4, I came up with the following way of calculating what I need for to get for this semester:
Result = {[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4} + {[(Y2S1 + Y2S2) / 2] * 0.6} /2
{[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4} + {[(Y2S1 + Y2S2) / 2] * 0.6} = Result * 2
{[(Y2S1 + Y2S2) / 2] * 0.4} = (Result * 2) - {[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4}
[(Y2S1 + Y2S2) / 2] = (Result * 2) - {[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4} / 0.6
(Y2S1 + Y2S2) = (Result * 2) - ({[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4} / 0.6) * 2
Y2S2 = {(Result * 2) - [({[(Y1S1 + T1S2) / 2] * 0.4} / 0.6) * 2]} - Y2S1
However, it's obviously been too long since I last did maths because the above doesn't work.
So I had to enlist the help of
elegy_of_flames and between us I think we've done it... :oD (I shalln't even dare to try to explain how...) :oP
If it's 0.4 to 0.6 I need 73.1 for this year, and as I got 69 this past semester, I will thus need 77.2 for this present semester.
If it's 0.34 to 0.66 I need 72.38 for this year, and as I got a 69 this past semester, I will need 75.76 for this present semester.
Either way, those are fairly high marks to be aiming for, and I doubt I'll get them.
on the plus side, if the grading is 0.4 to 0.6, I need less than 39.25 to get less than a 2.1, and if the grading is 0.34 to 0.66 then I need less than 42.08. In short, to not get a 2.1 I need to either fail or just barely pass (if my maths is right).
This of course gives me the ability to coast into a 2.1 should I so desire.
But me being me I'll be putting some effort into this anyway, I want to get a good last semester in (although I think I'll be reminding myself of the above fact every now and then just to make it a much less stressful semester than any other...)
Note: I just bought Pan's Labyrinth. Anyone who hasn't seen it... I'm looking for people to watch it with :o)
