I don't update this enough, do I? Well! Anime Boston was a few weeks ago. It's become
sw_inku,
gwingangel and I's new "Early Year" convention. It's replaced Katsucon, because Katsucon has degenerated into a flaming dirigible. Slowly falling back to the ground, periodically bursting into bigger, brighter flames and barbequing everyone unfortunate enough to be on board. And dirigible ride tickets are expensive! I'm not paying to be set on fire, I can do that at home for free.
Friday
We got an early start that morning, our Megabus tickets were for 7:30-ish so we can hit the convention without losing too much precious Art Alley sales time. Megabus is a double decker so we like to take the back seats of he top floor and have a row to ourselves. (We share if anyone needs a seat, of course) I think I slept most of the way.
After arriving we hauled our 12-tons of luggage around for kicks then set up in the Artist Alley. Sales were good for a Friday. There were also a buttload of conventioners carrying Pokewalkers, so everyone was eagerly touching their balls together for a bit of fun and gift giving. I must have touched balls with at least 50 people, judging by the amount of gift items I dumped into my inventory. We also saw our friends and miraculously ate from the mall's food court that night, and weren't reduced to knife fighting hobos for canned yams. I also bought that plush XBOX 360 up there from one of our table neighbors.
gwingangel bought a pink version.
Saturday
A breakfast of donuts and iced coffee! I'M SO HEALTHY~
This was costume day. The ladies donned 1950's dresses and FRIGHTFUL blonde wigs for our Stepford Wives cosplay. I had on a flamboyant smoking jacket and pipe. People kept thinking I was cosplaying Hugh Hefner. Yeahsure that was the intention yep. I got away from the table shackles for a bit to buy buttons and books from the Alley, and figures from the Dealers Room. I expanded my collection with Gurren Lagann and Manabi Straight things. And the newest volume of Life Meter, among other things.
Some guy came by and yelled at me to "update my webcomic". But he refused to say WHICH ONE and just walked away silently. UMM OK I'LL JUST UPDATE ALL OF THEM? Happy now? Whoever you are??? =O
And
roboyuji stopped by to touch balls. How exciting!
Then suddenly comic artist Last Supper.
Sunday
Final Day! Last minute sales and Dealer's Room runs. We packed up (Always a chore since it involves Tetris-ing stuff) said "bye" to our friends and headed off. The bus was oversold, (again) and it being Easter weekend sure didn't help matters. But they quickly sent a backup bus and we were first in line. So we got back with no issues to NY, went our separate ways, and battled back the incoming Mechanical Raptor horde.
But they swore they'd be back...
