Why senior civil servants should not be trusted with maths

As some of you may know, a chunk of the part of the civil service I work in is planning to go on strike next Monday.
A nice chap called Stuart Griffiths, head of the part of company I work for, has (as tradition dictates), written staff a letter telling them why they're wrong and undemocratic.

Its not just uncivilserpents we shouldn't trust with maths its most people in a position to broadcast figures. Ho hum not a lot we can do whilst it looks like too many people don't wnat to vote for a more sensible or fairer system even if its flawed but what system isn't.

Ah well at least I don't think you work in a department I'm having to phone up or at least if you do probably not in one of the offices who seem to answer my calls!
