Steps: 9
Step #1
Find a picture and resize, crop, sharpen, etc. I used
this image from
here.
I cropped it to 100x100 and sharpened it once.
Step #2
Duplicate your base (ctrl-j) and drag it on top.
Set this layer to SCREEN, opacity 100%.
Duplicate your screen layer (ctrl-j) and drag it on top.
Step #3
Create a new fill layer, Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color.
Fill it with #02043a, or a dark navy blue.
Set this layer to EXCLUSION, opacity 100%.
Step #4
Create a new Curves layer, Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Curves.
Use these settings (output/input):
RGB: 77/88
Red: -
Green: point #1- 166/161
point #2- 108/96
Blue: point #1- 78/86
point #2- 177/161
Set this layer to NORMAL, opacity 100%.
Step #5
Create a new Selective Coloring layer, Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Selective Color.
Use these settings:
Reds: -100/-13/-10/+14
Yellows: +100/-32/-41/-44
Magentas: +100/-53/+100/+100
Neutrals: +49/+7/+26/-10
Set this layer to NORMAL, opacity 100%.
Step #6
Create a new fill layer, Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color.
Fill it with #7ffbff, or a bright light blue.
Set this layer to SOFT LIGHT, opacity 17%.
Step #7
Create a new fill layer, Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color.
Fill it with #6ce5ef, or a bright blue.
Set this layer to COLOR BURN, opacity 46%.
(This is the layer to adjust if your icon is too blue.
For all of my other examples I excluded this layer)
Step #8
Create a new Selective Coloring layer, Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Selective Color.
Use these settings:
Reds: -100/+8/+14/+9
Yellows: +86/+15/-25/-13
Neutrals: +13/ +6/+9/-8
Blacks: +65/0/0/+9
Set this layer to NORMAL, opacity 43%.
Step #9
Create a new Fill Layer, Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color.
Fill it with #ffc87f, or a peachy color.
Set this layer to MULTIPLY, opacity 25%.
