So, as you can tell, I didn't update this week. I've got a lot of catching up to do, so I ripped both journal entries from myspace and posted them both here as one, with final thoughts at the bottom of then entry.

BAND.
CAMP.
FEKKING.
ROCKS.
MY.
SOCKZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!aksldk

I'm so fekking wound up.

Oh. my. fekking. GOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!!!!

Just got in liek....20 minutes ago.

Today was the best day yet.

I was so fekkin' SORE when we started.
I took 3 ibuprofin just to be able to get out of bed.

We learned a song and a half of drill today...including the music.
We've learned about 3 songs, just shy of finishing the last tune; which will happen tomorrow (and by learning, I mean sightreading it for the first time, fixing rhthyms AND memorizing it ALL, on TOP of 87+ pages of field drill).

But yeah...I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my section!!!
I'm glad I'm actually getting along with everyone; I've put the drama of last year so far behind me, and stopped acting like a bitch over...a certain boy's idiocy...because last year I took out my frustrations with said certain boy on one of the saxophones.

We're having soooo much fun!!!
Like today, durring woodwind sectionals, this spider drops out of NOWHERE onto my stand. Katie Beach is sitting on my left, and Thad Garret on my right; well, the spider walks over toward Thad, who reaches out to shoo it away. I, thinking he's trying to kill it or something, knock his hand away. Then I lean forward and stick my face right in the spider's. Katie catches on, and she starts gigling. Well then, Thad starts laughing, and then so do I and Ryan. The next ten minutes we're just watching this damn spider and giggling like idiot stoners.

Finally, I grab my pencil and get him to crawl onto it, with the intention of flinging him away or something (without killing him). But he runs up the end toward my hand, and I flip out and throw down the pencil...but he ends up swinging on his web from my stand. Well...Ryan finally just...GRABS it...and then wipes the, er, body...off on his chair. And I'm just HORRORSTRUCK...because we all know what a freakin' HIPPY I am about killing bugs; ESPECIALLY spiders because I LOVE them (so long as they stay the hell OFF of me).

We were still laughing about it...liek...five minutes later. I don't know what was up; maybe something we all ate at lunch was cooked with 'special' herbs (unlikely, of course).

Then, in saxophone sectionals we were working on the soli section of the fourth tune. Oh. My. God. The only way to accurrately explain how INSANE the soli section is, is by anecdote...so here we go:

[By the way, if a solo is a feature of a single muscian, a soli is a feature of just one section.]

We all get into the room, and Angie (section leader) starts trying to figue out how she's going to approach memorizing 'Hermes'; because we were going to have to break down the soli section into chunks and slow it waaaaaaay down.

She asks us if we have any of it memorized yet.

We all pretty much respond that we had; that its all a piece of cake up to there and after.
Thad: "Compared to that, the rest is "Chopsticks".
[we all laugh]
Me: "Yeah...like, Mary Had a Little Lamb"
Thad: "Mary had a little lamb, then she fed it heroin!"

Then I had Pizza for dinner with the sisters as a little Fraternity promotion thingy for the freshman girls.

Then we set the music to drill, and ended probably the earliest we have all week.

However, the best part of the day came at the end of the day, even after the Dismissal.

BC (Brian Cambrel) gathered everyone together at the back end of the field for one final annoucement; this Friday, the Brothers are having a...cookout.
*^_^*

This has, thus far, been the best band camp. EVER.
I mean, the drill is PHENOMENAL; the music....oh my gosh...you've never heard ANY music written for marching band as AMAAAAAAAAAAZIIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as this.
I fucking LOVE Latin rhythm. I love the pit and drumline ever more...because frankly, nothing THRILLS me more than a spot-on, hardass drumline with ATTITUDE laying down some KICKASS latin groove.

But the best part yet; I am in the most AMAZING mood of my life. I seriously, cannot remember EVER being in higher spirits.
THIS IS STEPHANIE I REMEMBER BEING IN MY LIFE BEFORE FUCKING MUSIC DRAMA FUCKED EVERYTHING UP!!!
I'm so sickeningly perky, and hapy, and upbeat, and optimistic, I could make the Archangel, Michael, look suicidal.
It can ONLY get better from here.
And for the first time in almost two years, I say that and BELIEVE it.

Today (last day):

So this was the most AMAZING band camp of my LIFE.
It the best music and drill I've ever played; its the TOUGHEST music and drill I've ever learned. I cannot explain to you (especially through this heat-induced migraine) this feeling.
Just...I am STILL in the best mood of my life.

band, woodwind, band camp, alto saxophone, saxophone
