(no subject)
:| Considering the amount of spare time I've made for myself by sleeping very little recently, I've done almost no posting here. obviously my time is not being spent productively :/
ORANGE RANGE officially has competion. I may have a new favorite Japanese spaz rock band: UVERworld. While their lead singer bears little resemblance to Frodo, and they have yet to ship themselves to a concert in carboard boxes, they do have several things going for them: They are small. They are spunky. They wear white hoodies and graffiti the world with tiny stickers. How can you not love them?
Also, that mail box thing I started at Kita-chuu is going really well. The kids are writing me letters which means they're using English because I bribe them with stickers they want to and not because they have to. *win!* Plus it makes me stupidly giddy every time I get a letter. I've actually taken to skipping down hallways with huge grin on my face. It has done nothing for my reputation as a competent individual, but there was never much hope in that regard to begin with, so it's all good.
As for the letters themselves, I get the traditional questions: "What kinds of CDs do you like?" "Do you like speak Japanese?" "Do you like to play the games?" ("Which games?" you might ask. Apparently that is for him to know and me to find out.) and "What Erin exciting now?" And then there are always the outpouring of "I love you!" confessions from the girls. But my favorite so far is from one of my special ed kids. I told their class that if they wrote to me in Japanese, I'd write back in English and visa versa since they're not in normal English classes. This boy made a surprising effort to write in English. The first part's in Japanese:
お元気ですか？僕は元気ですよ!!この続きは英語で書きます!! (basically How are you? I'm fine! I'll write the rest in English!)
I like cat.
I love in Erin.
I like banana.
BRILLIANT. I didn't even know he could write the alphabet and he's got 3 (almost full) sentences there. Also I love how his love in me (o.O) falls somewhere between his like of cat and banana. Now I see where I rank in this world. And now I know why banana is trying to kill me. It is in third place, and it plots to eliminate the competition. Watch out cat. When I'm gone, you'll be next! But seriously, I am so amazed he's writing in English :D:D:D YAYS.
