The Dustbusters premier was on Wednesday and everything went well. I hope the guys there get lots of audience, since the show is worth seeing!
And after today, we have been rehearsing CATS for a full week. We have done some stuff for the Prologue and then a yoga-pilates-stretching sequence for the Naming of Cats. And the rest of the time has went with the big dancing sequence in The Jellicle Ball. There has been ups and downs, especially when I couldn't get one of the girls lifted above my head and I felt so inadequate and weak... Then the next day the coreograph came and asked me to lift her the same way, and just like that, she was up there, arching her back and lifting her own legs even further above... So in the end the problem wasn't me, but my partner. Hah! Well, I know, that she could do that move with any other guy in the group, since they have more muscles than I do... ;_; But still, we succeeded in that lift yesterday, so we'll make it soon, I'm sure of it. There aren't any problems in the other lifts.
The translation is great! They've placed the whole story in Finland, and so many of the place and culture-related jokes can be understood better now. The translated names of the cats are so-so, but if you can accept the idea of changing the names in the first place, I think they've done a marvellous job. It's like the Harry Potter translations: Close enough, but still imaginitive Finnish. Also, many of the original ideas of places and set ups have been updated, so that our Grizabella will probably make her first entrance with a plastic bag full of empty glass bottles. xD
Oh, about my job in the whole thing. I'm only in the dance chorus, but I'll be doing two understudies, it seems. The Old Gumbie Cat will be a he in our production (a transvestite cat to be more specific), and I'll be doing that in case the actual performer gets ill or is doing some other role in case of illness. And also I'll be learning stuff for the Rumpus Cat (the super-hero-cat who stops the dog-fight). Yay! I get to fly~... ^^;
Bought Ice Power gel and Magnesium pills yesterday, my muscles are sooo sore. Today it's time to shop protein snack-bars, plasters and Bepanthen (a lotion to help bruises and skin burns heal faster)... And I've been eating twice as much as I normally do... But that's no wonder, since we are dancing 7 hours a day. n_n' <3 <3 <3 Gotta take care of my tool.
