Everyone has them.
At least people who read harcovers or paperbacks.
Unread books.
Not any kind of unread books.
No, the kind which you already have.
The ones that already inhabit your shelves and your drawers and sometime clutter your home.
Either you bought them yourself or they where a gift or they are from an unknown source.
But I am sure every reader has some books well at least one book somewhere at home that is there for ages and is still unread.
And the older you get the more time you had to collect those kind of books.
Well, I did an inventory and looked at all nooks and crannies in my flat to find them.
I did find them.
Nearly 70 unread or unfinished books was the endresult of my hunt.
I think I own the oldest ones for 20 years!
Some I knew I had and some I had know idea.
Some make my question "Why" like why do I have them/why did I buy them and some are "How" like how did I get them.
Why do I mention that shocking news that reveal I am a secret book hoarder?
Well, today is the last day of the year 2018.
I had this spontanous idea that in the new year I could try to read the unread books I own.
That this could be a kind of fun goal or project for 2019.
This was before I knew how many books of the unread family I have.
That is absolutly crazy.
This number 70!
But to be honest, I think I could do it if I wanted.
Because lets face it I already read for hours everyday. At least 2 but most of the time 4 or more.
It is just not books at the moment.
But the amount of fanfiction I read this year could fill meters and meters of shelves maybe even rooms if it would have been printed.
So even if the number seems very hight it is doable.
Question is do I want to?
Am I even interesested in reading all the books? Do they still interest me?
I don't think so.
So even if I don't read them all it will be a great opportunity to do a bit of decluttering and cleaning up a bit.
I am looking forward to this challenge and I am looking forward which books I will read and like or dislike and which I will not read at all.
At the end of 2019 I will sum it up.
Lets see what positve or negative surprises I will get at my reading journay.
Oh, and already a big plus is that reading analog instead of digital will get me away from the computer. That will be better for my health.
Due to my work I already spent 8h a day at the computer this is already not good but combined with my reading time it is awefull.
It is not good for my eyes, my hands, my back or my neck.
So lets get started!
My unread books here I come
