I developed a cell phone battery charging issue the week before Shibaricon. Since I was out of town for over a week, with no chance of dealing with it, I grabbed my old business phone, left an extended absence greeting saying "call my other phone at 414-yada yada". Checked VM every day, and didn't worry about how long it took to fix the issue.

Dunno what happened to that message after the second or third day. AND it never occurred to me how many of us ASSUME that caller ID/missed calls are seen (does not happen when phone is OFF at the time of call, btw), or that text messages are read.

If you have tried to reach me by text, or called and assumed I'd see your missed call in the last two weeks...I have no idea. No texts came through when I was able to power it up, and there will be no missed call logs.

Just sayin'. (warranty replacement is on order, and should arrive by Friday. Crossing fingers).
