And here's what I got up to when not being social. Or unconscious.
TV
Watched all the seasons of
The Closer - started with the latest and working backwards, cause I'm neurotic always.
BOOKS
Have read the first 2 books of Cassandra Clare's
"Mortal Instruments"series. While the first half of the first book is terrible, IT GETS BETTER. It does! The books suffer from clearly poor editing. Like horrific really. I mean it's depressing it's so bad. But the characters are actually likeable, the plot is occasionally surprising, and it gets pretty funny.
The main male hottie - Jace, is actually a Draco Malfoy. Insufferably snarky, and devastatingly blond. :D (His not being remotely Cullen fills me with joy)
Quote: "I have a high pain threshold. In fact its less of a threshold and more of a tastefully decorated foyer." XD
The main female character - Clary, is not an actual Bella Swan, but actually proves useful on occasion. (While Clary is the 'star' of the books, she's not actually the most interesting thing, and we get lots of distractions)
Excerpt: She found herself crying on the subway and a opposite her offered her a tissue and she shouted "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE LOOKING AT, JERK?" because that's what you did in New York. After that she felt a little better. XD
Her best friend - Simon, is an annoying muggle MUNDANE, but he gets better and they get mocked by a gay warlock for being like a soap-opera only very dull. XD
This takes place after Jace accuses Simon of wanting to kiss him. XD
Jace: "I guess it's true what they say - there are no straight men in the trenches."
Simon: "That's atheists, jackass. There are no atheists in the trenches."
There's a VILLAIN named Valentine (VOLDERMORT) who's all into purity and child abuse. Unlike Voldy he was never smited, and is all very Lucius :D
Apart from some clear confusion with TENSES and ONLY USING ONE (no seriously, author clearly went with Confusing As Fuck tense), the author also suffered from a case of the "Brits" - in my recollection I've never heard "podgy" used as an American adverb. She also name drops a lot of nerd words, like anime and manga, and WoW.
Also, I'm old and am allowed to find the whole MUGGLE/ MUDANE thing tiresome. What is it with authors finding humans all FAIL? Not that we don't suck what with our distinct lack of super-powers, but they do get that we have IMAGINATION, right? Humans are awesome, sadly authors seem to have misplaced their own mortality and have transcended into a douche race. Fuck them, I'm human, I lack the Chuck Norris gene and I'M FUCKING AWESOME. Also, I prefer crazy bitch to muggle/ mundane.
MUSIC
Got into spirits by listening to a lot of indie Christmas tunes [which I've abstained from since, and have indulged in Radiohead (ANGST!), The Decemberists (FOLKY) and Ra Ra Riot! (FRUITY)]
