My brain is broken. Also my back hurts, and my mother just asked me for the second time today for a snack, and then complained that while she knows what I have, I have bad taste. I should buy more stuff that she likes. Before u put me in the "bad daughter" box, I do buy snacks for my mom. Like I buy snacks for my bro, but I'm not the Almighty Oz,  can't predict ur snack mood. That said, yes I am grumpy.

Once upon a time, there lived a man who wrote incredible stories that would come true. One day the man died, but he had left a device that would continue writing his stories even then. To make his story more interesting the man wrote in a young duck, he gave this duck the ability to transform into a girl, and from a girl - to transform into the Prima Donna, Princess Tutu.

"Princess Tutu" the wiki is *really* good is an unexpected magical girl (mahou shoujo) anime. Rather than having a plot where our heroine goes around vanquishing evil, and then faces the last boss and lives happily ever after with her true love.

It manages to weave it's own story while bringing in things from favourite fairytales and myths. To make it all the more magical, this is all told using famous ballets. It made me want to find my illustrated copy of "Swan Lake". If ur familiar with that story and The Nutcracker, u'll recognize the outfits and names and music used, but its not necessary, since the story is meaningfully conveyed.

It was a surprisingly deep story about the role of support characters in a story. While it's our hero-Prince (Mytho) that saves the Princess (Rue/ Princess Kraehe) and gets the glory, and ends the story, he is only able to do so because of the support of his Knight (Fakir) and  the one who loved him from afar (Ahiru/ Princess Tutu). We see the story form the side of characters who's role is not meant to be the ending hero, but who have their own roles to play. The storytelling aspect plays a heavy role, as our narrator is also the one who attempts to dictate the story (Drosselmeyer).

Princess Tutu was so cool!! Like it just kept getting better and better, in the beginning I wasn't too fond of Ahiru, but she improved. Fakir continued to be made of sexy-awesome, him dancing in that black leotard is engraved in my mind!!

At first I couldn't see the Inoue parallel, but by the end it was clear. Being fickle I have no problem saying that I'm now with
debbiechan in hoping that Inoue comes out of this, and expecting her to have a great moment when her b'day rolls around. Gin's b'day is also coming up T_T

Also while her unrequited love is what motivates Ahiru, it's her relationship with Fakir that gives her strength. Their story was beautiful.

When I hear Wagner I always feel a bit guilty for enjoying his music 'cause he was an anti-semitic idiot, and a member of the Nazi Party. It's like when I hear "tannhauser" I always remember that Looney Toons cartoon with Bugs as Brunhilda and Elmer Fudd singing about his spear and mighty helmet and "kill the wabbit".

I was looking for the massage pillow for my back when I found the "Disney's Sleeping Beauty" DVD. I must watch it. I belong to Disney, it calls to me, like the mothership. Also I don't mind when Disney warps classic fairytales, simply 'cause fairy tales r so well known, that it's acceptable to play around with them. I don't mind when liberties r taken with Shakespeare either, so maybe me getting emo over the LOTR movies is based on a time distinction? whatever/

Have watched Sleeping Beauty. Oh Haruhi! I can't believe I forgot such batshit crazy. The fairy godmothers runoff with poor baby Aurora to live in the woods until she turned 16 @_@ They even changed her name. And Aurora is all kinds of  *shudder* barbie doll psycho.

As usual they had to make 'the witch' out to be like the devil. Maleficent was all Sauron in her dark castle. They did the same thing with Ursula (the sea witch) in The Little Mermaid. I mean I love these shows, but since childhood I've always felt an affinity for these poor ostracized witches. I mean I laugh like Maleficent, that 'evil' witchy cackle, when was 13, my class (in high school) got to have a Horror House for our May Fair (like Japanese school festivals), my laugh was useful then *pouts* I emo'd as poor Maleficent was unfairly killed for being the only decent character in the show.

In the original Sleeping Beauty tale, the witch was treated horribly, like they made her eat with the bad china! 'cause all the good china was being used, and they didn't want her there. I always felt sorry for her.

-__- be nice to ur witches, they just misunderstood. Most of the time. The original Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid was damn helpful. The witch in Snow White was tragically insane. She obviously felt unloved. And well Hansel & Gretel tried to eat that particular witch's house...I mean sure she may have gone overboard with trying to eat them, but I mean their father also abandoned them in the woods, multiple times! Then they returned to him, with jewels...so really the witch was just...scapegoated.

*sigh* I'm at a loss at to what to watch next, am in a mood to read. have decided to read Stephen King's "The Stand" (nice n' long) and maybe will think of something cool to d/l. Rec's r most welcomed.

pointless drivel, princess tutu, reviews, poor witches
