Finalé

It's 7:00.
I'm listening to an appropriate song called Sha'atayim veNigmar [Two more hours and it's over] by Achinoam Nini. In two hours, the results of my A-level exams in Biology in Chemistry - the ones that I took in May/June this year - will be published online. I have to log in to my account, look at them and smile or scowl. Yesterday evening, I even shampooed my hair and shaved [my face, nothing else] to look my best for this important day :)
I have a really bad feeling that I may get graded wrong.. e.g. I'll get a D in Chemistry when I'm supposed to get an A. In the event of that happening, I'll have to reject my grades and request reevaluation... which will only delay the university's acceptance. I don't believe in prayer, but I sure do hope that nothing wrong has happened with my grades.
I think I'll go read the newspaper now and worry about other people.

It's 8:00.
Newspaper was no good in calming my nerves. There was a pitiful picture of a girl wounded in the carnage in northern Iraq in which over 200 people, all Yazidis, were slaughtered in coordinated suicide bombings. Also, there was a picture of two Lebanese people holding up a poster with a picture of Hassan Nasrallah on it. I realized that our friend Nasrallah would look very chubby and cute if he clipped his beard off and shaved.

Five, four, three, two, one..
It's 9:00.
I logged in and saw.. it was still on preview mode.
Tried again a minute later. This is what I saw:

In case you can't see the picture, here they are:

Biology
Unit 1 [Biochemistry, cell structure]: 93 out of a maximum of 100.
Unit 2 [Exchange, Transport and Reproduction]: 100 out of 100.
Unit 3 [Energy & the Environment] + Coursework: 97 out of 100.
Unit 4 [Respiration & Coordination] + [Microbiology & Biotechnology]: 98 out of 100.
Unit 5 [Genetics & Evolution] + Synoptic: 90 out of 100.
Unit 6 [Synoptic paper] + [Written alternative to coursework W2] : 80 out of 100.
Total: 558 out of 600 which is about 93%.
Grade: A, dammit!
I knew I screwed up in Unit 6 synoptic. I can't believe I got 97 in Unit 3, though - I wrote so much bullshit in that paper.. maybe my coursework saved me.
As they say in St Mary's, after a good exam: "I raped Biology, man!!"

Chemistry
Unit 1 [Structure & Bonding]: 84 out of 90.
Unit 2 [Introduction to Organic Chemistry]: 87 out of 90.
Unit 3 [Laboratory Chemistry] + 3 Courseworks: 116 out of 120.
Unit 4 [Quantitative Chemistry, Periodicity, more Organic Chemistry]: 85 out of 90.
Unit 5 [Transition metals, Applied Organic Chemistry, Kinetics]: 81 out of 90.
Unit 6 [Synoptic paper] + 4 Courseworks: 117 out of 120.
Total: 570 out of 600 - I swear to God, that's exactly what I imagined it would be. It's uncanny! That's about 95%.
Grade: A - I wasn't expecting any less.
Man, I think the courseworks brought my marks up. I can't believe I did worse in Unit 1 than I did in Unit 2.. Unit 1 Chemistry is piss easy.

Since there's nothing to bitch about, I'm gonna mope around all day because I didn't get the maximum marks in any of the Chemistry papers. I love Chemistry, dammit, you could've at least given me 120 on 120 in Unit 6!

exams, biology, school, chemistry, happy, st mary's, danu, me
