Unexpected compliments

Yesterday, I was at the Dubai Center for Special Needs for the summer camp. Some of us were supposed to go swimming somewhere else, but for a long time before that, we just stayed the Center and played dodgeball.
Not the dodgeball like in the movie Dodgeball, instead we formed a circle and pushed a few people into the center and tried to hit them with a ball. Of course, we aimed for the legs but some children are so short that it hits their head even when you aim for the legs.

So anyways, I was standing in the circle and beside me was my good (special-needs) friend Salman. I was wearing a black sleeveless top and khaki three-quarters. Salman turned to me and told me I looked nice.
"Thanks," I said.
"You're wearing a nice banyaan." Banyaan is Hindi for 'vest'.
"It's not a banyaan, Salman. It's just a top."
"You know Zayed Khan?"
"Yes.."
"He wears banyaan like your's."
"Yeah," I beamed.
"But his is white."
Later he said, "You look very handsome."
I smiled again and said, "Thanks!"
Then he said something [I don't remember the exact words] to the effect of "You look handsome with a flat tummy."
Well! It's good he didn't see my paunch.

When everybody was leaving at the end of the evening, another (special-needs) friend of mine, Mustufa punched my 'flat tummy' even further in. Ouch! Now my 'flat tummy' is concave. I can't blame the guy, though.. he spent the entire bus ride from the Center to the swimming pool place biting his own right arm and then kissing the deep, red impressions left in his skin.

friends, sfs, bite, summer camp, special needs, danu, me
