Fruity flasks
The Chemistry teacher returned our Unit 3 exam papers to us today.. you know, to check the calculation, discuss the answers etc.
So anyways, there was a question in the exam for four whole marks that required me to sketch a diagram showing the apparatus used in the preparation of a certain organic compound. The reaction is carried out in a pear-shaped flask, so I had to draw that.
So I had drawn. Or at least I thought I'd drawn a pear-shaped flask.
When I was got my paper back, imagine my surprise when the teacher herself was mocking my drawing!
Abhishek says that my flask looked like a mango. And my thermometer like a ribbon.
Needless to say, she deducted three marks out of four for this poor work of scientific art.
And I was shamelessly laughing with everyone else at my own terrible sketch.
