Pro-vegetarian

I was just looking at some video clips from this website about cruelty to animals, vegetarianism etc... nir1 gave me the link to it. I'm already a vegetarian, so the clips don't really make me feel guilty [except about eggs and milk products], but one clip made me cringe at the sight of the horrid conditions under which animals are kept.

Those conditions are common in the western world, however, they're not universal. I personally buy my dairy and eggs from more traditional farms that do not practice such cruelty to their animals. Food is labeled - cage free - hormone free - allowed to graze, etc. I haven't made the transition to having all my meat like that- I want to, though. But having Stal around, I can't just make big decisions like that which involve the two of us.

I'm personally not vegetarian, but I agree that there is a severe glut of meat in our society that frankly, is unhealthy and antiproductive towards social development. Humans are distinctly evolved to eat meat, but in small quantities.

Well it's a big step - at least you choose to buy your dairy from farms where such conditions don't prevail. I mean, most people wouldn't go through the trouble of doing it, but you do.

Of course we're evolved to eat meat, but if animals raised for meat are treated so horribly, I'm sorry I just can't bring myself to eat it.

I guess they don't have humane standards for the raising of meat in the UAE? Most kosher meat is raised and slaughtered humanely. Halel (sp?) meat is supposed to be raised and slaughtered humanely, but that relies on the dubious integrity of the farmers and butchers.
So, I guess I don't blame you for abstaining entirely. Just try to get enough protein in your diet, okay dear?

Halaal meat is just as humanely slaughtered as kosher meat, but the problem is not with the slaughtering.. it's with the conditions in which the animals are kept and the way in which they're treated as if they don't feel a thing.

I do get enough protein.. our Indian diet is full of it. And my gay diet gets me some too, if you know what I mean ;)
