Gorging around

Jun 27, 2006 23:46

Since we had nothing to do today, we decided to go paragliding. It's not the same as parasailing where you control your own flying instrument.. someone else controls your parachute in paragliding.

Anyways, we walked till the station in the late morning only to be told that the winds were getting dangerous and they didn't have more than one pilot, so they couldn't possibly handle 8 people today. We were told, instead, to go down the gorge trail where we'd be able to walk right over a gorge with a stream running underneath us.

So we walked, on and on and on. Everybody except my brother, my cousin Shehr Bano and I got tired even before we'd reached the gorge trail's entrance. We had to climb up quite a steep slope to get to the place where the trail starts. The lady who was sitting at the starting point charged us 25 Francs for ten people [2.5/person] and then we started walking down the trail.
The first bit of the trail was made of flimsy wooden planks which, according to my calculated guess, couldn't hold more than four people at once. And the trail was awfully narrow. I had my little cousin Adnan on my back, so I had to be extra-careful while walking.
We came to this one point where there was clear, fresh water running down and we were all so thirsty that we drank from it. We even filled our water-bottle with the flowing water.

The rest of the trail was alright.

Around sunset, we all had ice-cream. We looked like the easy-to-find Indian idiots, having ice-cream when it was 19°C outside.

After that we decided to have dinner at that pizza place, again. The pizzalicious boy was making the margheritas again. He smiled a bit at Sarah and me, because Sarah kept asking me how 'focacio al fromagio' was pronounced and I was trying to be as Italian as possible, to impress my new [fantasy] boyfriend. Man, he looked even cuter today. His face is one that I know, one that I recognize, but can't quite put my finger on which of my acquaintance's face his face resembles. He looks a bit like Ivri Lider, but also looks similar to my friend from Arab Unity School, Ammar Jaffar. They're both very good-looking, but Pizzalicious Boy is to die for. He has the cutest smile ever, his hard-working hands are just so perfect and his curly hair is cut in the right places and is long the right places. His facial hair, too, is remarkably neat [when compared to mine, keeping in mind that I'm an obsessive-compulsive freak of nature]. His build is ok, his butt looks great [through his pants, that is], and an apron covers his crotch.

Anyways, so we had all finished dinner, except for my cousin Adam. He was being force-fed by his dad. His eyes were welling up and he said that he felt like throwing up.. and I told his father that if he didn't want to eat the pizza, I'd finish his food. But he went ahead and stuffed more dry crust into Adam's mouth and Adam mercilessly threw up all over himself, in his plate and on the table-cloth.
I was so embarrassed, I wanted to go hide my face somewhere till the end of time. Even though Adam's not my son or my brother... but I was just really embarrassed because he threw up in front of my dream guy, the Pizzalicious Boy! :( Argh, I was embarrassed and a bit angry too. Pizzalicious Boy didn't smile at me after that, even though I sheepishly smiled at him. Perfect end to a less-than-perfect day.

That's my little cousin Adnan with a milk-white horse. The horse was behind a fence.

We found this nailed to a wall of some random house on the way to the gorge. To say it like Daffy Duck, "Gruesome, isn't it?"

Ok, some really jobless and/or horny people carved this penis [or is it just a mushroom?] out of a tree. It was hilarious to look at and our parents were so non-chalant about it.

To give you an idea about the depth of the gorge and the width of the trail:

It was awesome to look down at the flowing stream and the rocks that it had eroded.

Aw, I'm a bit worn out and taking a moment's rest.

Ok, I know that you are all thinking, "Weirdo. Who drinks water dripping from a rotting tree trunk?!", but the water was really cold and refreshing. I had like five handfuls of it and I was thirsty for more.

That's the town of Zermatt, seen from far away.

That was our third day in Zermatt and our third day in Switzerland.
