Been running in and out of the hospital for the last couple of days.

My Papa had a mild heart-attack (he's fine) so the majority of my time has been spent calming down my Mom and my Nana - and my Uncle too, really - translating medical-speak for my grandparents, teaching my Papa how to use the hospital phones and television remote - which, of course, is the top priority when one has to undergo various medical procedures - and cooking dinner for my brother.

To be honest, I kind of hate hospitals.

There's that whole antiseptic, way-too-clean smell, which - yeah, okay, hospital so it's totally a good thing that it's clean and everything, but it still creeps me out a bit - all the white and the tiles and the machines whirring and beeping and spitting out paper.

And the jello.

What, exactly, is up with the overabundance of jello? I mean, I suppose that jello has that whole easy to consume, comes in tons of flavors thing going for it, but it's not exactly number one on my list of staple foods that I want to eat upwards of three times a day. And sometimes it's yellow - and then it just looks odd and wrong and really unsettlingly like you could hand it back into your nurse as a urine sample.

Just, you know, jiggly and everything.

(Okay, so maybe I just have a problem with yellow jello.)

Random, but, when we were first on the way to the emergency room, there was an old man standing at the bus stop and singing. I couldn't tell what it was - the windows were rolled up - but, I don't know, it kind of struck me as Gene Kelly. Not that it was raining or anything.

He was just so damn happy.

I often think that life would be neat if if was a musical.

zombies, babble, family, musicals
