'Twas a Very Merry Hobbit Day

Today has been a very good day. It wasn't until an hour or so ago that I figured it out it was Hobbit Day. It started with finding an NES at Cool Stuff. It continued at World's Best; the book I was looking for wasn't in stock, but the new d6-based Iron Kingdoms RPG was. And then Was Kay. Kay is this adorable elderly woman I met at World's Best. She came in asking for Echo, for herself. The adorable part was that she kept referring to them as "funny books." The store clerk didn't seem too thrilled at the idea of helping her, so I stepped in. Turns out we share a couple of favorite heroes. (Green Lantern and Green Arrow) I helped her find a collection of GL/GA team-ups, and then, sensing her penchant for strong female characters, I got her started on Birds of Prey. When I told her about Lady Blackhawk, it jogged a memory somewhere and she had me help her snatch up all the issues of Blackhawk we could find. Poor dear wanted some beefcake. Her grandson's only 5 now, but I told that once he's 17, she is to explain to him that he's the luckiest grandson on the face of the planet. So yeah, today was kind of amazing.
