I love your approach to this storyline plays out and am hoping that is the reason for the issue to be brought up so early this season- it isn't about them getting a surrogate, but of what they will have to face the reality of where they are at as a couple and parenting, right now, isn't it.
I also want to see how this flies with the potential future Grandparents Wandell [and if that might be a teensy bit of a reason for Scotty to be a teensy bit apprehensive].
Also, as a recent K/S fic reminded me, what does Ida think of how her grandkids are doing?
parenting, right now, isn't it. I really think this would be the most realistic decision for them to come to, at the moment. Plus, I think they'd really rock the scenes showing the conflicts, regret, resentment, etc.
potential future Grandparents Wandell And despite all my complaints about them as parents...um...there's a Megan fic in the works with appearances from Bertha and Wally...
I was excited when I read about Kevin & Scotty wanting to become parents : - because I think it wouldn’t have been fair if they didn’t go through the baby storyline, - because we’ll get to see them together and we’ll get to hear Scotty and know what he thinks (I hope), - and just because I’d love to see them as parents (before this show ends). But when I realized I was reading spoilers for the first episode, I was like “What?! Like that!! In the first episode?!”. I’d have liked to see them talking about it first and then taking the next step after having carefully considered their decision.
After all the complaints about repetitive storylines, do we really need another plot involving baby-making? I agree that the storylines are repetitive, but it’s a family drama and therefore the main plots are marriage, divorce, infidelity, death, disease and parenthood. So… I only hope that their storyline won’t be a ‘copy/paste’ of the Kitty/Robert’s one. My fear is that they split up Kevin & Scotty :(
I think my main thing, and we seem to agree on this, is that no matter what they decide to do, we need to see them talk about - the sacrifices and the compromises they'd have to make, the planning that goes into having a kid, regardless if you're a straight or gay couple. I don't want them to start the season with these talks already behind them - I want the season to be about getting them to a place where they're ready for kids. I guess I feel there's a lot of issues for them to work through first and considering 1) the ensemble-nature of the show and 2) the writers' past neglect of these characters, I don't believe they'll do the plot justice. And I don't want to see it half-assed.
To me, [Kevin/Lizzy/Tommy] felt really weird and contrived. You and me both, actually. Kevin's sudden obsession with Lizzy was not well developed at all.
as something he said under the anger and not as something that had a real meaningI agree. I certainly don't mean to imply that Scotty has a serious problem with Kevin's attachment to Lizzy. I

I could see Scotty agreeing to something he was ambivalent about it just to try and make him feel better. Yes, it's true. I hadn't thought of this that way.
The fast-forward button was a wonderful invention! Wonderful invention, indeed! But if I start using this button, I'll skip as well Rebecca, Holly, David, Robert and even Kitty (she bored me so much last season) scenes and the episodes will become very short! ;)
Check them out when you get a chance! I just looked at your covers and they are great! I like this idea of 'Main page'. When I look at the cover for Impromptu, my mouth is watering :D I've never tried cupcakes; we can't find them in France (at least, we can't find them where I live). I should try to find a recipe... The one for Combat makes me think that I haven't watched Over There yet. But I fear that must be too violent for my taste...
the episodes will become very short! Hee! I won't tell you how quickly I managed to get through some episodes (on second viewing at least...)

I haven't watched Over There yet. I thought it was interesting. I can see why it didn't last, but it was watchable, for the most part. Luke was the best, of course. Although, maybe I'm biased...
You've said EXACTLY what I think. Really I can not agree more with you. At all
Apart from what you said. I think Kevin wants a child but Scotty was not yet ready (“someday is not next year”) and that will end in a fight (drama series).
I would like the relationship of K / S is made stronger before they have a child. And I really want that they buy a house together.

I agree! There's no reason they can't be great parents, and work out all the details, etc. And not to say that "newlyweds" or even single parents can't do that - but the vast majority of couples I know who are able to successfully deal with the strain (and joy) that comes with kids waited until after they were secure and strong in their relationships, had multiple conversations and made arrangements (like buying houses) over the course of a couple years. You don't go from hypothetical to 100% ready for a kid in three months. I realize this is a TV show, and so things don't always happen on a realistic time scale, but...
I don't know if you've read the actual sides to this spoiler but Kevin seems all gung-ho about surrogacy but Scotty is hesitant. It could be that this first episode has them talking over readiness and practicality issues after Scotty "pulls the reigns " on Kevin's eagerness yet again. If the writers follow their predictable, superficial formula, apologies will be exchanged and K&S will be conveniently journeying down the same baby-wanting path by the end of the first episode

I don't know if you've read the actual sides to this spoiler I did see them, which makes me think that there's going to be conflict there. However, I fear that it's more likely to follow the formula you described. Sigh.
I don't understand why K&R had to go through pregnancy difficulties In retrospect, I actually think it might have made the presidential campaign slightly interesting if they had kept Kitty pregnant and see how they dealt with that, personally and professionally/politically.
I can't recall MR saying that he didn't like working with children. Yeah, I don't remember where I read it, and it may very well have been hearsay or something.
I am a bit disappointed to see that not many people are complaining about it on Bloggers Me too! They took a while to update my comment, so I thought maybe that was it, but I don't think so. Maybe people are starting to feel/realize complaining is pointless...
Ida might be making a reappearance That would be AWESOME.
p.s. the new layout looks good! Thanks! I didn't design it,

In retrospect, I actually think it might have made the presidential campaign slightly interesting if they had kept Kitty pregnant... Just slightly *smirks* Maybe Calista didn't want to act as a pregnant Kitty. It's really awful when they come up with storylines that have potential but then they screw it up. I wouldn't include the presidential campaign as an example though. That was just completely unnecessary and a waste of time.
Maybe people are starting to feel/realize complaining is pointless... Sigh. I think it is. Clearly, no one's really listening. We just keep complaining to harass them now more than anything else...
Good to see a new writer's assistant providing some amusement at the very least. And those MR pics were gold!! His curls are back!! *sighs happily*
You know, at first I was like "OMG BABIESSS OMG GAY DADDIES OMG OMG" because...well, it's an appropriate reaction. But reading this, I kind of completely agree.
If it happens, I'll hope it's done right and still squee, but I agree. -Especially- about the writers having little respect for the fans.
It IS an appropriate reaction! I love the idea of them with kids. I just want them to do it right, even if that means slowing things down/waiting a bit.

Hee. I'm going to be there complaining as long as I can possibly stand it.
I kind of loved that blog. The picture of MR with Mickey? Awesome.
That icon of Luke is interesting, btw. He looks like a wax figure (in a good way).
