So I am sitting in class and my teacher just informed us that our course packet comes out to 109 dollars.

I was feeling sick about buying it for 30 dollars.

Now, here's the interesting thing. He went on to basically blame us for for the price. He said that the used book market is killing the publishing companies. He said that if we didn't buy and sell used books that it wouldn't cost that much.

This packet is basically just a big mash-up of articles he has found that he wants us to read for this class. I have found several of them online or in books in our library already. Would it kill him to just give us links to the readings online? And THEN maybe make a smaller packet of the ones we can't find elsewhere? I refuse to spend over a hundred dollars on something I can get for free.

Also, the other book for the class is selling at the bookstore for $20. If I go to google books from a school computer, all of the chapters of this book are available online.

It seems to me that he is more concerned with giving the publishing company a boost than helping us. Considering that I am going into massive debt to pay for school (and therefore his class) I would like to think that he could try a little harder to be helpful.

I am tired of all these instructors who forget who's money is going into their paychecks.
