the gnat's ass
I thought I'd write about something that isn't a complaint. Nature. Nature is cool. I watched this French movie called MicroCosmos that is basically a documentary about the insect world but without any narration. It's just pure video footage of this tiny little world. And to see it in DVD quality on a 60" HDTV is just incredible. When you can see it so up close you can appreciate the diversity out there in the details that you never notice, and you can appreciate billions of years of evolution. I mean, I saw a flower that was "designed" so that as the bee dipped inside to collect the nectar, its head pushed down on a part of the flower that made this little arm (the pistol?) arch down and powder pollen onto the bee's ass. This way the bee could then go on and pollenate another flower. How cool is that?
