well, he's done it actually, in the comics. "the killing joke" (which heath's joker was sort of based on, so yes, it's relevant) revolved around the joker paralyzing barbara gordon, the first batgirl (hence the crossed out reference) in a plot to drive jim gordon, her father, insane. part of this plot featured the joker shooting barbara through the spine, then taking pictures of her in VARIOUS STAGES OF UNDRESS while she was still horribly disfigured/bleeding.
