I'm back!
And I'm still speaking French in odd reflexive spurts, so we can infer that the immersion process was at least partially successful.
Go me!
Damn, it's nice not to be surrounded by teenagers. I met some really neat people and made some very good friends (and drew a lot of portraits), but I seem to have a sign on my forehead reading 'Tell Me Your Problems'. I feel so unequipped to give people advice - all I can really do is listen.
And for the past five weeks I have been a very, very good listener. Oy.
Anyway! I saw Les Miserables in Quebec City! I have a Joker shirt! I have a new piercing (no, nothing hardcore - just the top of my ear).
Currently, I'm drawing like a madwoman. I'm not gonna lie - I had banked on having a lot more free time than I did while in Quebec, so I've got a big, big pile of art to do before the end of the summer. Which is actually not thrilling me at the moment, because all I really want to do is sit on my ass and watch BBC period dramas...
(Actually, the first thing I did when I got back was watch a six-hour adaptation of Little Dorrit that, Oh happy day! starred Derek Jacobi. The man's one of my gods of British cinema. God, I say!)
In other news, I now own a laptop. Of my very own. Upon whom I have bestowed the name Fairfax, after Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre.
Oh, yeah...I saw Batman while in Quebec City, too. Yes, I do have some complaints about the film as a whole. I can't believe they killed off Twoface, for one. But....
The Joker. Was. Perfect.
Rest in peace, Heath Ledger. If you don't get a posthumous Oscar, I will personally avenge your spirit.
batman,
quebec trip,
dork-out time!
