it's not a 'job' period.
that's a modern bastardization of 'ministry'
a reflection of fear, that erodes confidence in the very Gospel they claim to trust in.

GET A JOB
if ministry is work to you, then you are doing it wrong; and polluting the arena

I do not believe Paul had a salary
I believe he subsisted on the generosity of others, but before that:
HE HAD A FREAKING JOB
and
conducted ministry on the side*
it was his freaking hobby
he enjoyed it

*hmm, there's some irony for you: Paul doing his daily afternoon preaching, after his morning tent-making work... he actually 'worked' more than any salaried minister I've ever heard of.

oh, and I bet he didn't craft some quaint sermon in an office somewhere

gee, you think maybe He neglected to take thought for what he'd say, cuz he trusted God would give it to him in that hour... because it's not he that speaks, but his father which speaks through him?
