I'm of course assuming the sect is fundamentally self-righteous and prickish.
If not for name "Exclusive Brethren"...
His full-of-her-self-mother would do things like call him 'the beast,' referencing the figure in Revelation, whenever she'd chastise him.
How quaint.
Typical pseudo-piety: desire to convince self of relative righteousness, by reacting to superficial manifestation of sin nature.
