My area manager told his wife about my LASIK consults. She herself went through LasikPlus and he's undecided about LASIK. Once she heard about the varying consultations I received, she was glad I decided against LASIK. A former client no less!
I went in to Costco this morning for my third eye exam this week. I explained to the eye doc that I've already endured one dilation this week due to LASIK consultations. She asked if I was going to do it and so I explained my past reasons and the cost of LASIK:
$5K/10-15 year return on corrective lens free vision ~= $500/year == lots of contacts/sports glasses. Yes, LASIK is not permanent and at age 40-45 I'll need reading glasses.
Her response was, "Good, looks like you've done all your homework". She wrote my prescription and I happily took it to
NDC but they didn't have the
ScubaPro Fino mask. As a result, I'm going to buy the
Tusa Splendive IV Four Window Mask and
the corrective lenses that go with them. Total cost is $101 which doesn't even break my FSA account leaving me enough to buy prescription Oakleys.
I know LASIK is supposed to liberate you from lenses, but I feel newly liberated from the spectre of LASIK. I can spend on more toys with my FSA LASIK-free.
UPDATE: I ordered the Tusa. The corrective lenses will fit either side (there's no differentiation for right or left), so you just order the prescriptions you need.
