Don't take credit for GOD!

Ok, I was talking to someone (who shall remain nameless) today and they were describing praying inbetween describing the event they were praying for in such a way as to take credit for the result. This really bothers me on two fronts. First if your going to pray to God (or whoever) about something it between the two of you. EVERYONE doesn't need to know that you did it. And secondly assuming that your effort alone did it.

Now I'm not saying that I don't believe in the power of prayer, but you have NO way of knowing if it was always going to happen, if it did happen because you prayed, or if it happened because someone else did, so quit presumming to know, OK!?!

How do you know when to help family financially? Right now with my family we're at the recieving end, so its not so much an issue, but I could see it being one later on. With Jims family though we're on the other end. Now I feel like we are barely scraping by because we have a large mortage hanging over our heads, still buying tons of stuff that HAS to be bought for the house, and only have what I consider to be a small savings. But I feel like we should contribute to helping his other family members, but how much, and to which ones? And to some degree I feel like MY family will feel badly if we do, because of things they do to contribute to our finicial stability.
