(no subject)
am on naxos right now.
just spent the day on a quad bike exploring the island. we have yet
to figure out if we are going to make it to any of the other islands
though. or ferry to the island and back from the island were
later/earlier than originally wanted. (the greek ferries only post
there schedules a week in advance). at most we will see one other
island, but i don't know if that will happen. there is a lot to do.
nafplio was a lot of fun. though my bag didn't make it on the plane
again - this time i guess it really like rome. and it never made it to
nafplio because it was a sunday and they couldn't get it to us based
on how far we were. they were going to send it - but it would have
only got there after we had already left for athens to take our ferry.
So we ended up going back to the airport and then to the ferry, which
resulted in a very long day, with lots of traveling.
The place we are staying in Naxos, is very nice though. And when we
got here we were picked up by the two owners in a van and driven the
short distance to the hotel. Where they made us put all of our stuff
down so they could explain all the things about the island and give us
dessert and water. They were really helpful - especially today when
we were having problems figuring out how to get around the island
since we don't have a scooter license and we are not 23 to rent a car.
but the quads seemed to solve the problem and they were nice and drove
us over to the rental place.
Greek food is good and much less costly than Italy. (how much greek
salad can one person have in a week?)
I don't think i updated on the end of Rome, which was interesting.
Apparently it is not a good idea to try and pick pocked a tourist on
the bus when you are standing between two undercover police officers.
You get a nice escort off the bus at the next stop. Though it was
slightly interesting because no one knew there was a second officer
until they all got off the bus, because only one of them said
anything. The slightly funny thing was - before the actual pick
pocket thing happened i had gotten worried about the person who was
the undercover officer, because i knew that something did not look
right.
