car troubles... as usual

my car threw quite the hissy fit yesterday. i knew i had to jump start it, i've needed to do that since last wednesday. joe & i jump started it & went on our merry way to his sister's new place, which is terribly cute by the way. after being on the interstate for a couple of minutes, we notice that my car is overheating. we get off at the next exit

Why do you need to keep jump starting your car? My car is 20 years older and in a way shity condition and the only time I need to jump it is when I drive home drunk or high and forget to turn off the lights.
