Taking a bit of a break from this canvas thing. I've begun restoring bits and pieces of it, similar to the way Muggle paintings are done. The charmwork's very confusing and doesn't make much sense, since when restoring a Wizard painting you generally don't have a reference and there is much more involved in it than simply paint; you've got not only ( Read more... )

Portrait restoration sounds so dull. And it makes our dormitory smell like paint remover. You really like that sort of thing, Terry?

And, well-said! He who hesitates is lost, after all. Me personally, I don't find hesitation a particularly useful asset, because that injects room for self-soubt. And there's always a risk of doing a botch job when you're not completely confident in yourself.

No, but I'm not exactly proficient at art or anything. I find it too messy, and the smell gives me a headache.

Well of course I'm right. I have an innate sense for these things.

Wait. Are we still talking about portrait restoration?

Well, that's all right. You don't have to like it. Though Wizards do loads of crazy things with their paint, smell being the most obvious. Not that I'm an expert either.
