Zines for trade on laundro.
The prices are just what was written on the covers so you have an approximate value.
iii zine #2
music and activism: inverviews with midtown, mock orange and more. "art(icles)" about hate groups, veganism, getting "connected," etc. Really well done.
Aged Noise
Beautiful. Cut and paste at its best.
Animal Ingredients A to Z $1.50
A must for the vegan. A plus for the vegetarian. Still interesting for anyone else. A compilation of animal-derived ingredients found in foods you wouldn't expect.
Another Zine That You Don't Want to Read!
The whole thing is made on one sheet of paper, so it's 2 one-fourth size pages with a front and back cover. It discusses Tina's need to do zines.
Be Concave #1
Some compiled short stories and articles, a little bit of poetry, and zine reviews. Text-heavy, but luckily the text is good.
Beautiful People
Really amazing short stories separated by letters to celebrities like Greg Brady, Jon Bon Jovi, and Eminem. Seriously, read this. It's so cool.
Circular #1
Diary entries, little glimpses of poetry. The bear on the cover made me think it was a cutesy kind of zine, but it's very honest and real. Two thumbs up.
Consume
I love this zine, but I feel like I need to pass it on. Literary, personal, both introspective and observant. I <3 it. I hope you will, too.
Copycat #3: Rose Colored Cynicism
The zinester makes beautiful drawings (her latest favorite subject is Agent Scully from the X Files) and pairs them with short stories and rants.
Creme-Filled #5 $2
Includes a pull-out cookbook. That should be enough, but just in case, they've got horoscopes ("fortune-telling food forecast") a dream journal and a neat drawing of Buddha.
Death of a Pysche #16 $1/trade
Articles about phone sex, punk rock boys, a secretive tear-out section and more make up another wonderful issue from Liz. Her straightforward writing really gets your attention. Small tear on the front cover.
Distortia $3
Includes a mini cd. I would call this zine the liner notes that come with the cd, but really it's the other way around. It's nice and thick, with beautiful layouts and writing that will suck you in, a fair amount of it about discovering Native American identity.
Eat My Revolution! #1
Cool 1950's artwork - like from the Dick and Jane books - complements articulate, brief poetry and a quote from franz kafka. Must read.
Epi-logue: The Zine of Epicenter Zone's Demise $1
Epicenter was a "collectively run, not-for-profit punk rock record store and community space." Would would such a cool place shut down? Read the zine to find out.
Fixing Her Hair #1 $1/trade
Intensely personal articles about AIDS, glbt issues, porn, home and polyamory. Title inspired by the Ani Difranco song. *PENDING*
Glitter, Guts and Glue #1
The color cover is really pretty. The pictures are all in color, too. Random articles, one of which is titled, "Kirsten Dunst, Conan O'Brien, Underwear and You."
Go Teen Go #3 (Spring 00) $2
I've heard this described as kind of an alternate teen mag. It's not glossy or anything, but it has stuff like "the ultimate teen trauma-rama mad libs," letters to the editor, blurbs on boy bands (though they aren't worshipful), hair tips and an advice column. It's really fun and DIY.
Hey Human (Special edition, Mar. '04)
Full size. Really neat writing, some of it creative and some practical. I haven't actually read this, just glanced through the headlines.
Invincible Summer $1
Nicole writes about living in Portland, sharing her toothpaste, and life with a sharpei. Her drawings are so original and great. My favorite part is the "unsolicited reviews" on restaurant and movies. A little ripped up, but definitely readable.
QZ: Notes From the Galactic Underground
Arty layouts. Intro says: "This zine showcases some of the things I find interesting, provocative and disgusting about life on this planet." Great street photos and a few articles. Another one I haven't read.
Recluse Zine #3 $1.25
Marvelous! Articles about eating disorders, nuclear mishaps, how to live with cat allergies, pros and cons of George W. Bush, and some poetry.
Red Scare #3
Includes a guide to cleaning products that won't harm your body, a Cherokee legend, some vibrator haiku, a distro guide, and more. Really great zine.
Robo-Theory
Letter to Alice Cooper, some comix, an article about why she feels uncomfortable with PDA and her girlfriend's family, reviews of random things. Your basic perzine. Good mix of randomness and emotion.
Stearn Highway Puss-Puss #5
Honestly, I haven't read this one. Lots of illustrations, including some crude ones of naked people (crude in style, maybe not intent). Still not a bad zine.
Step Out of the Line (Dec. '04)
Included are favorite Christmas cartoons, post-election thoughts, and an interview with a bartender's wife, plus the usual reviews. This is not emo poetry and unsent letters. Best described by its subtitle: "A Pop/Rock Culture Review Publication (And Whatever Else We Decide to Write About)"
Step Out of the Line (Feb. '05)
Reviews of things like Bob Dylan's book and The Chemical Brothers' latest ablbum. Some quotes, show dates, etc. This is not emo poetry and unsent letters. Best described by its subtitle: "A Pop/Rock Culture Review Publication (And Whatever Else We Decide to Write About)"
UG Rant #7
Claims to explore the very broad subject of "life." Actually, there are articles about suicide, rape, and abuse. Heavy subjects, luckily they're dealt with in a practical, proactive way.
UG Rant...Distracted
Cute, tiny, happy zine.
