Dear Emma, I don't object to anything you write in your personal journal, because frankly it's none of my business and it is not my life. However I'm confused by something you've written in this entry. You say "So dont talk to me about growing up whiteclassmiddleclass. I dont know what the shit that is" and yet both of your parents live in washingtonville, ny, which is not "white trash usa" in the least. Your dad lives in a nice condo with 3 floors, beautifuly decorated, and seems, from an outside perspective to be very generous and kind with you. Your mom has a gorgeous house on a large peice of property, with an apartment in the backyard, and a pretty good job from what i can tell. They are also currently sending you to New Paltz college. So I'm not sure I understand why you would be living and squats and eating out of dumpsters unless it was by choice. Also, you're only 19 and therefore are not old enough to remember or have ever seen the lower east side when it was anything but yuppie, this also confuses me. I'm not saying that you're boasting or spoiled or anything, but I'm confused by a mix up of facts, perhaps i'm missing something? It's true that when you were born has nothing to do with punk or attitude or anything like that, but punk or not, the truth doesn't make you anything less or more than what you are. You can be as punk rock as you like growing up in a decent place with sufficient funds. That doesn't mean you had a charmed life...so why try and make those details seem worse than they are?

Middle Class isn't a mindset, it's a socio-economic bracket. All the piercings, tattoos and manic panic can't change the fact that you were born middle class and this status has afforded you certain luxuries that others weren't so fortunate to benefit from. This isn't neccessarily a negative thing as you had no control over what socio-economic caste you were born into, but mistaking identifying facts with a "mindset" is just dishonest.
"White Trash," is a perjorative term and using it makes you sound both classist and uneducated. The etymology of the phrase is rooted in upper class white individuals assuming superiority over poorer whites on the basis of economic earnings, moral compass and educational standing. While I doubt that you faced any real, stereotypical, "white trash," (ie. gun racks, confederate bumperstickers, etc) You labeled those who didn't understand you, your so called art, your banal taste in music and your pathetic attempts at individuality as such.
