"Slowly, make it last..."

I know, I know, you're thinking, JENN IS UPDATING HER BLOG?!?! It's amazing, it really is, but I have to do it. I sorta feel weird if I don't, ya know? Part of the reason I wanted to update is because I've had a pretty amazing two weeks. I know, I always just talk about what I've done, but I don't want to do the whole, "I only update when I'm sad or mad" thing.

So we'll start at the beginning. On Friday, November 4th, I went to a Stuck With Arthur show in Des Moines at House Of Bricks. I went with my friends Kristin, Allison and Matt. It was SO fun. We ate at Burger King on the way up (I LOVE THEIR TENDERCRISP SANDWICH!!!) When we got there we saw the Vandon Arms play and then Slaughterhouse 6 (they are lots of fun) and finally Stuck With Arthur. Wow, they blow me away every time. They are so talented and the crowd gets SO into. It was awesome. After that was done Kristin, Matt and I went down to Stauffer (an honor house, Matt lives there) to watch House of Wax (disclaimer: it is probably the worst movie ever made and I called it before we even started, I mean Paris Hilton is in it, come on. So please don't waste your life). When we got there everyone was trashed, so we watched the funny things drunk people do (calling information and talking to the girl FOREVER, drawing on people, wrestling, beer pong, etc.) and I also got to hold Reid's tarantula (Tuco is his name) it was scary, but cool. Finally Kristin and I left and headed back here. I think we went to bed right after that. The next day we slept til one (which was HEAVENLY!) We ate lunch at Kristin's house and then cleaned our room (it was sick). That night we went to Drake to watch our basketball team play them (it was an exhibition game because they are D-I and we're D-III, lol). We lost that game 99-52, but it was lots of fun and we put up a good fight until they put their first string in. Then we went to Ashley's room and sat and talked for a bit. Thee next day was an insane one full of homework. I seriously started at 12 and didn't get done until 7 or 8. I had a huge Sociology of Religion test the next day and I had to do good on it (I got an 85 by the way, YAY!).

Monday and Tuesday were just regular days but Wednesday it started getting fun again.

On Wednesday Kristin and I made the trek to Iowa City to watch The Drive Back play at Gabe's Oasis. After the hour and a half drive we stopped and said hello to Nathan. I really like that boy, he's awesome. We hung out in his room for a bit (and spooned...lol). Then we headed down to Gabe's. Let me just tell you that it is the sickest venue I've ever been in (although the Drive Back boys tell me they've played in places that are much worse, I don't think it could be any worse). We waited for a LONG time before we even saw the boys, it was kinda strange. When we did finally see them I was VERY happy. They played first (of course, it was GREAT, as always) and then I bought a T-shirt (I love it and I've gotten a TON of compliments on it). Then we listened to a band called Epic Hero, they were very fun. I loved the lead singer's voice. After talking to the boys for a bit, Kristin and I decided it was time to head back to Pella. We said good-bye and Troy walked us to my car (how cute?!) We stopped at Java House when we droped Troy back off at Gabe's and then we headed back and went directly to bed. (we got into P-town at like... 2:30ish?)

Then Thursday night we got to go to yet ANOTHER show! It was at Skate South in Des Moines. We got there at like 6:30 and the show started at 7, so we hung out for a bit before. The first band that played was Emanuel. We HATED them. They are very screamy, and I usually don't mind stuff like that, but this was bad! Then it was The Early November. They were SO awesome!!! Ace is so cool. I can't wait for the new triple-disc (that's right THREE discs) to come out. It should be good. They played stuff from both CDs, so it was good. Then Saves The Day was up. Kristin loves them so she was really excited, and I haven't gotten THAT into them so I wasn't sure. But let me tell you, this performance really changed my mind. They did awesome, everyone was dancing and having such a good time. I really enjoyed it. Finally it was time for Senses Fail. I used to love them, but after the last two performances I'm not so sure anymore. The people just seem too angry. We only stayed for part of it, then we went to Wendy's. :-) It was also a good show!

So Friday night I had tickets to go to the Relient K/MxPx show in Minneapolis/St. Paul. I drove home (missing 2 classes :-/) And went straight there. (with our foreign exhchange students and their friends, so I was basically alone the entire time, oh well) I could tell immediately that I would be annoyed. There were lots of young, TRLish people EVERYWHERE! Once I got in there though I was excited. Go Betty Go played first, and I feel bad saying this, but I didn't like them. They are an all girl band, but they just don't do very well. I think boys do it better (not trying to be sexist at all). Then it was Rufio, their set was fun,, but I've never been that into them, so I didn't think it was that great. Finally it was MxPx's turn. They played SUCH a long set. It was really fun though, I loved it. I was right by the hardcore dancing/mosh pit, that is like my favorite spot to be. :-) The girls by me were getting annoying though because they didn't want MxPx to do an encore because they "hated them", but they did two more songs anyway. :-D Then it was Relient K, I was nervous because of the crowd. I moved towards the back and had a GREAT TIME! I took some video and danced around. I was standing by cool people, so that made it even better. It was one of the best Relient K shows I've ever seen (and that's saying something). I just spent the rest of the weekend with my family relaxing. I also bought new black, lace-less Chucks, they are the new love of my life. I just have to get them all worn in now.

Ok, Monday, of course was a regular day, but Tuesday it was the last concert of my two week (well, technically a week and a half) stretch. I went to Fall Out Boy with my friend Allison (and her friends Meghan and Jaysen and Jaysen's friend Kelly). First Panic! At the Disco played, they sound like a rip-off of FOB, they were ok, but not the best. Then it was Boy's Night Out, who I've never liked, so I didn't really enjoy it. Then it was Motion City Soundtrack, a band I have recently discovered and they were awesome. The set was so fun and everyone was having such a good time, I just wish they could've played longer. Next was The Starting Line, who also did great. They played my two favorite songs so that made me happy. Also, Kenny cut his hair, so he looks much better now. Finally it was time for Fall Out Boy. They did their set in two acts. They first one was most of the new stuff and the second was more old stuff. I thought they did really well. I had a ton of fun while they were playing (although I was drenched in my sweat and other people's sweat as well). It annoyed me when they would talk, cause Pete gets annoying, but it was still way worth it.

Basically I had an AWESOME time. Going to shows is so fun and I wish it could be my job. I'm very sorry this is so long and if you read the whole thing you are amazing. I hope this finds you all well! :-)
