Over on
doctorwho,
ibishtar reports that
tickets for the official Doctor Who 50th anniversary convention in London go on sale on Monday. Details of events, guests and pricing are on the original post - far be it from me to play marketing guy for the Beeb, but if you're interested check it out.
Hmm, pricey. Although I admit I'm not one of life's convention-goers and don't really know what the going rate for these things is, so maybe it isn't. Also, while London is ridiculously close to me be the standards of those of you who live in larger, more spread-out countries, by my standards it's a long way to go and a lot of train fare. So I'll be at home with my DVDs and my Fourth Doctor coffee mug, getting ridiculously excited while I wait for the 50th anniversary special to start and maybe annoying all of you online too. I'll probably enjoy that more. ;)
Hopefully nothing unseemly will break out... Also, what's all that business about #thefourth...?
While I'm on here, I'd just take the opportunity if I haven't done so already to plug this series of posts on the mostly-comics blog
Mindless Ones -
fifty stories for fifty years.
Basically, it's a Doctor Who story for every year from 1963 to 2013, discussed and critiqued by Andrew Hickey. By now he's up to the 90s, so it's all novels and BBV films at the moment. Well worth checking out - some interesting story choices, and some interesting opinions that go beyond the sort of purely fannish criteria by which the likes of you or me tend to assess these things. Even if you don't agree with everything the man says (and personally, I don't), it's a good read. Reminds me at times of the equally excellent About Time books which my associate
lost_spook turned me onto.
Anyway, that's the business for today concluded. :)
