This is the best loved ninth Doctor story. The least is The Long Game at #70And I can't, in all honesty, find fault with that assessment ( ... )

I love it too, in fact it probably is my favourite new-who story. Whilst Dalek reignited my interest Empty Child convinced me how amazing the show could be again.
I agree about Nine, Rose and Jack, it's such a shame ecclescake's leaving messed things up (although the sort of New Earth with Rose dying would have been a weird and depressing Christmas episode). At least Gareth Roberts and Steve Lyons books from that era are excellent.

Oh, I love this one. It's probably in my top five overall, definitely in my top ten (but I've still got a few holes in what I've seen/heard). Scary, heartwarming, engaging, funny, and I loved the 'everybody lives' ending. It's my mom's favorite Doctor Who story all together (Nine is her favorite Doctor), and I think that shows excellent taste on her part.

It's my #3 of all tv stories so I think you and your mother both have exemplary taste :D

Oh good, I'm glad to see this one doing so well. Easily my favourite bit of New Who. I didn't find it remotely scary, but that's not a complaint. Great story, great incidental characters, some fine flashes of humour - and Jack. Jack's the key to it all for me. I'd been waiting for him to turn up all series! Part of it is that I've never enjoyed the single companion set up, so I very much wanted another member of the TARDIS crew. The rest of it is that he's such a great character. Much as I love "Torchwood", he has never again been written as well as he was in those last five episodes of New Who series one. He fits into the team so well, and he, Rose and Nine are perfect together. They're the TARDIS team that should have run and run ( ... )
