Jun 29, 2013 19:18

We're almost into the top 20 of my 50th Anniversary countdown of aggregated poll results for Doctor Who Books, TV Serials & Audio Dramas, reaching number 21:

21. The Empty Child\ The Doctor Dances

Doctor: 9th (Christopher Eccleston)
Companions: Rose, Jack
Aliens: The Child, Nanogenes
Synopsis:
Following a spaceship down the time vortex The Doctor and Rose find themselves in the London Blitz. In the midst of the bombing they encounter a mysterious child who may just rip the whole world apart to find his mummy.
Why is it so well loved?
1. It is terrifying. Really, really, really terrifying!
2. Coming off from 14 years of sitcom work, he mixes the horror with a brilliant series of one-liners.
3. Everybody lives! Just this once everybody lives!
Statistical Snippet
This is the best loved ninth Doctor story. The least is The Long Game at #702.
