Does it really seem like two years to you since we had the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, The Day of the Doctor, The Five(ish) Doctors and all the rest of that jazz? No, not to me either! I hope as many of you as possible got to do something Who-ish today however small, in consideration of the occasion

People may have differing opinions about Moffat's work, but I don't think anyone disputes that he really cares about Doctor Who, and is a genuine fan of the show. (I would say the same about RTD as well.)

 If only that were true and sanity prevailed throughout the fandom! (Mind, I suppose that would be a bit boring.) There are some corners of the internet where they totally seem to think he's actually plotting to destroy the show on purpose, which seems a trifle self-defeating to me, but you should never let logic get in the way of these things.
(And, yes, I think they're both huge, huge fans, whatever else they may be. So are an awful lot of the people who've worked on New Who - the love never dies.)

The thing about Lawrence Miles is that, strange as his attitude to the show is (and he hasn't liked it save rare occasions since 1973, as far as I can gather, never mind Mr Moffat), he is a good writer. (And I say that as someone who hated Interference so much I may actually have even recycled it instead of given it away.) I would still read any of his DW books. Which makes it all the more the shame that he doesn't pick himself up and go write something awesome, really. (Unless he has, in which case yay. But I don't look, because life is too short.)
DW's got room for fans who hate any given aspect/era of it, but declaring those bits EVIL is always a worrying move on anyone's part!

I'm delighted about Moffat becoming so much more positive about the Seventh Doctor and Sylv. I'd heard something about how he'd begun to understand and like what that time had been trying to do. It beats his apparently having posted drunk online back in the 1990s about how he haaaated it and McCoy was crap, etc. (I say "apparently," because it seems to have happened sometime during my 1996-2008 dropping of DW fandom, most likely in the 1990s part of it, and I read about it a long time afterward.)
[Edited because I apparently can't stop typing "amd" instead of "and", along with other usages of m instead of n, on this tablet...]
