-blinks- Were you now? Hm...

^_^ Psst, but I'm writing a few more stories in that particular AU, featuring fem!England, aka Alana.

I couldn't help it. Especially after I talked to my relatives, who gave me the Chinese characters and pronunciation for the names. "Xiao Lung" is Bruce Lee's Chinese name and I like it too.

Footbinding is one tradition that's always horrified me, because of how... sexualized it was as well as just the sheer anatomical details of what occurs. It's a complex tradition with roots and connections in interpersonal interactions, family economics, and political hierarchy, and I acknowledge that. Nonetheless-

Thanks! ^_^

I'll add one more piece to the Xiao Lung notation - not only Syaoran Lee, but this was Bruce Lee's Chinese name, yes, another Lee Xiao Lung!

Wow. Creepy, and wonderfully so, to describe the decaying death of the Q'ing dynasty. Poor Taiwan.

Of course. ^_^ I wasn't sure if everyone would realize that. Actually, the CCS Syaoran is "Little Wolf," I believe, not "Little Dragon." "Little Dragon" is the name given to a related character in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (at least according to some scanlations I found).

It's easiest to sympathize with Taiwan (and Hong Kong for that matter). But I did try not to make China a completely unsympathetic figure too, as he, as you say, slowly decays.

Thanks!

Oh, Taiwan has an AWFUL history, she really does. Just go the wikipedia page. It's heartbreaking to read about.

I don't think that it was so much of Yao showing his real self as much as it was his being wasted by war and opium, desperate feel some sort of control in his life. The only one left was Taiwan (who he would end up losing to Japan anyways). He's not entirely an evil villain here (as is real history). But it is from Taiwan's point of view so...

Thanks!

I wanted to make him somewhat... pitiable, actually. You are very correct though, that people don't realize that he has an incredibly cruel, prideful side to him (when he isn't the Shimatty-chan lover or the helpless opium addict). I would like to get into more of Yao's character as a conqueror, and sometimes a rather brutal one at that (even to his own siblings). Chinese history is not... pleasant, past century aside. It's quite disturbing to contemplate, just as it is to contemplate the sordid and violent history of Europe.

Well, the fans do get serious about history when the author won't. It leads to some very uncomfortable ideas and facts but I believe we end up the better for it, in understanding international relations and history.

Aww... thanks again. I- I just scribble, I assure you. ^_^

Wow. That was awfully poetic, full of imagery, and so disturbingly good.

Crazily enough, my head-canon is somewhat similar to this one (except Yao bound her feet after Hong Kong was taken away).

This was incredible.

-blushes- Thank you... -shuffles feet, pokes fingers together Hinata fashion-

Actually, I got inspiration for this after looking at your fanart, specifically that double picture of Hong Kong in chains and Taiwan with her bound feet. With that in mind (as well as another picture of Hong Kong with birds), I just let this write itself (though I had to scoot up Taiwan's age a little because some things I just refuse to write).

I'm very glad you liked it! Thank you very much!

E-eh?? *blushes* Are you serious? Wow, I am...totally flattered that such a great fic came from those! Thank you so much for writing this with that in mind.

(While drawing that picture, I had the image that Korea watched, in horror, as a completely drugged up China ordered servants to have Taiwan's feet bound shortly after Hong Kong was taken away, and China muttering "Yes, now you won't run away. You won't leave me." Then scene cut to when Japan attacked China and then he sees this ...doll-like child on the chair and wonders why she isn't running.

"Is there any way I can run?" she says, lifting her skirt just so to show him the deformity wrapped in silk.)

Rambling...will stop now...

It helped me a lot while writing this (Because I've never written Taiwan before, except in a slightly joking fashion). The imagery struck me and sort of stayed. -smiles- As you can see, I'm fixated on images and imagery.

Wow... now that's powerful. That's very, very powerful... and summoning up more images... -fingers itch to write something-

Nah- Your rambling is always very insightful and very entertaining to read, I assure you!

Creepy would be right. ^_^ I did try to get this air of decaying beauty crumbling all around them. And yes, Taiwan deserves a hug.

Thanks!
