While I'm fighting with learning the newest version of Word (which is cool and all, but where the hell are my buttons!?!), I have decided to turn my world a bit upside down. See, it went like this...In August I lost Angus. He was a black and white long haired cat and he died from complications to an injury. We (the vet and my family) think that he was already sick when he got injuried and that is why he went downhill so fast.
I was rudely pulled from my writing by my family as I finally got a chance to start typing up Picture Puzzles as is usual last night. I gave up after the sixth time and ended up looking at cats and kittens on
PetFinder to keep from screaming at family. Oh, what a bad idea. I still miss Angus and I avoided looking at any black and whites. Which lead me to two kittens in the same shelter/animal hospital. I loved them both within moments of reading their pages.
Yeah, so today at afternoon break I called and on Saturday I pick up two kittens. One male Maine Coon mix currently called Thumper:
And one female tortoiseshell called Pumpkin:
Thumper is thought to be about four months old and Pumpkin about three. Thumper is huge for his age, of course, since he appears to be part Maine Coon. Pumpkin weights just enough to have her fixed so she's small.
I'll have to drive about an hour and a half to get them, but I refuse to look at the shelters in my town because of what happened the last time I went looking for a kitten. That was nearly a decade ago, I know, but it really hurt to have two shelters tell me they wouldn't consider me because to them I didn't know enough to suit them. I've had cats since I was a toddler, but I didn't know enough to have a kitten. That made me turn to the free ads and I ended up rescuing Angus from a horrible home and he grew into a lovely big laidback cat. I miss him, just as I miss Yo-yo before him, and Frosty before him, and Blackie before her. These two will become just as important to me.
I'm going to be spending most of Saturday introducing these babies to my household. The two Yorkies, the finches, hermit crabs, fish tank, and the toad being the big things we'll have to see about. Getting the smaller Yorkie to understand he can't chase these littles like he and Angus used to play will be lovely fun. I'll have to reassure the bigger Yorkie I still love him.
I can't wait. *beams*
And, yes, yes, now I'm going back to trying to type. :)
