I keep intending to post fic, and pictures for that matter. Well, fic is being written, but nothing is ready to post. :P Pictures, on the other hand, really not working for me. I can't get LJ, my camera, or my computer to like me. *sigh* I'll win eventually though.
Partly I've been busy with my new toy that finally got here for my birthday: My Kindle from Amazon.com (it is an ebook reader for the most part). I've been figuring out how to get things non-Kindle format onto the device and make sure they will work. *huge grin* I've my novel on there. And would you believe the amount of errors I can see when it is on the Kindle's screen? Lots more than looking at the same text on my computer.
I've crashed my computer several times last night trying to get the mobipocket reader program to work right. Ugh. I was supposed to update my del.icio.us page for someone, which didn't happen until this evening because of the crashing. I've been trying to figure out a better way to index, but not really working out all that well.
I figured out that the Kindle won't see mobi formats where the name is a number, like 1632 or 1633 (actually book titles, really). So I had to rename the files to things like Title_1632 which worked and it shows in the book list on the Kindle properly as just 1632. Weird. While I adore that I can actually get my doc file converted for the Kindle it annoys me that they put the .doc in the title of the .azw file. And editing that makes the Kindle reject the file when you try to open it. *huff*
Other than that my only gripe is the sort function on the book list. Really, why can't I group up series together? Manual sort the list? I read Terry Pratchett, for the love of goodness. There is no way I'm going to remember which book is in which order and I reread them a lot. I'd like to be able to sort them for publish date even. Something, anything.
There that's it. Really. Everything else odd that the Kindle does I don't mind. I could actually care less. I can drag every book I want to with me and I don't even have to lug around a huge purse anymore. *big happy dance*
I'd like to have certain things work a little differently, but they aren't critical. My bank account is in so much trouble. Oh, oh, and I've making steps to start serial publishing original fiction (yes, it will have smut, okay, okay, porn) on my own. I've setup the LJ account for it and I'm just about ready for the first part to go up. I'll post a link when I'm ready. That at least works for me. *rolls eyes*
